Peugeot 608 flagship coming in 2014?

Besides 608, there will be Peugeot 408 as well. BTW, we do hope that Peugeot 408 is genuine ...not just another 308 variant with a boot welded on like Dongfeng Peugeot did.

It is not true that Peugeot 508 had replaced 40- and 60-series. So, who is lying then?

HX-1 Concept

According to a recent report, the Peugeot HX1 concept is going into production in 2014 as the 608 - the model will be slightly larger than the Mercedes R-Class.

There will be no more EP6-DT engine options, but a variety of diesels are expected with outputs ranging from 160-270 hp. There will be also a hybrid variant which has a 200 hp diesel engine and a 95 hp electric motor.

Now, say farewell to EP6-DT (non-charming) Prince Engine!

Peugeot may no longer be using problematic EP6-DT Prince Engines in the future?.

For instance, the all new 4WD SUV Peugeot 4008 will not be using EP6-DT engine but powered by the following engines instead:

Petrol
1600cc 115 hp 152 Nm, 5-speed manual;
2000cc 150 hp 198 Nm, 5-speed manual or CVT.


HDi Diesel
1600cc HDi PEF 115 hp 270/280 Nm with Overboost, 6-speed manual;
1800cc HDi PEF 150 hp 300 Nm, 6-speed manual.


The Peugeot 4008 will go on sale initially outside Europe starting in April 2012.

Fault Codes

Now...
So far so good after a few days and hundred of km's driving - since VVT mechanicals replacement.

No more fault code detected.


Before...
Every time after long-distance driving there were fault codes detected. Mostly "pending" faults - sometimes there were "permanent" faults as well.


Those faults had to be reset. So far seven times already done before being rectified.

3-year Warranty Claims

myPeugeot308 3-yr warranty period was expired on Feb. 27th 2012. The car had just clocked 50,000km then.

The following items, but not limited to were replaced foc through out the said warranty period.

Rear Windscreen
@10,000km for broken seal

Battery
@20,000km for insufficient amperage

High-Pressure Fuel Pump
@45,000km for insufficient injection pressure

VVT Mechanisms
@50,000km for the infamous intermittent loss of power and super knocking

Etc...
"small-small" items...

Total foc incurred was around RM10k "only"

50,000km Service

The car had just clocked 50,000km at the end of the 3-yr warranty period.

The car was sent to a regular authorised service center for the scheduled services and to replace certain engine parts under warranty. Upgraded version of firmware from PSA was also loaded at the SC.

Now the lion roars differently...
